The Iraqi-British artist Lorna Salim passed away at the age of 93 years in the United Kingdom, Mrs. Lorna, who was born in 1928, and came to Baghdad after her marriage to the late artist Jewad Selim in the early 1950s; fell in love with Baghdad and painted its homes in many of her artworks. Lorna was an active member of the Baghdad Modern Art Group and the Iraqi Plastic Artists Association, and she supervised with artist Mohammad Ghani Hikmat the completion of the Freedom Monument after the death of Jewad Selim at the age of 41 years.
