1973 Artist Adel Abdin was born in Baghdad, Iraq.
1979 - 1990 He completed his elementary, middle, and high school studies.
1995 - 2000 He studied and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad and obtained a BA in Painting.
1999 He won the third prize in the New Iraqi Sculpture competition.
2002 He won the first prize in the Young Iraqi Artists / Painters competition.
2003 - 2005 He traveled to Helsinki, Finland, to study at the Academy of Fine Arts, and obtained a master's degree in “Time and Space Art”.
2003 He was awarded a prize from the Arts Council of Finland in Helsinki.
2004 He held a solo exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki, Finland. He participated in an exhibition entitled “Off Project” at the London Biennale in Area 10 in London in the United Kingdom and the “Blank Space” exhibition at the New Contemporary Gallery in Sydney. He also won an award from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki.
2005 He participated in the master’s graduation exhibition at the Tennis Palace Art Museum in Helsinki, an exhibition at the Galleria Rantakasarmin in Helsinki, an exhibition at The Holden Gallery in Manchester, United Kingdom, and the Fifth Istanbul Biennale Workshop in Istanbul. He also won four awards in Helsinki and Slovenia.

He participated in the Images Festival in Toronto, Canada, an exhibition at Saw Gallery in Ottawa, Canada, an exhibition at the Museum of Photography in Helsinki, an exhibition at Fredericianum Khunsthallein in Kassel, Germany, an exhibition at the October Salon 47 in Belgrade, Serbia, and MOCA at Museum of Contemporary Art in Taipei, Taiwan. He has also won two awards from the Finnish Cultural Foundation and the Promotion of Audiovisual Culture in Helsinki.

2010 He held three solo exhibitions in each of KIASMA at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, in Location One Gallery in New York, and The DA2 at the Centre of Contemporary Art in Salamanca, Spain. He participated in the 17^th Sydney Biennale in Australia and an exhibition in Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha, Qatar. He also won two awards in Helsinki.
2011 He held four solo exhibitions at the Wharf - Basse Contemporary Art Center in Normandy, France, the Zilberman Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey, Anne de Villepoix Gallery in Paris, and Darat al Funun - The Khalid Shoman Foundation in Amman, Jordan. And he was nominated for the Ars Fennica Prize in Finland.

The artist has taught, lectured, and held discussions in several countries and institutions during the past years and was written about him in several international magazines such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, The National, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and others. He was also part of documentary films that talked about his artistic experience and were shown on many television channels such as the BBC cultural channel in England and the cultural channel ARTE in France.
He lives and works full-time in art between Helsinki and Amman.
